I Just want to Scrap and Sew.......

Well I must say that I am now totally over my brace/ splint I have to wear. I have put a photo of it so you can see how fantastic it is..... NOT. I deceided to go scrapbooking on Sunday and well my head is saying do this do that but my hands say "What Ever, Your Dreaming".

My mum was only talking to me today and really put things in perspective. Imagine someone who hasn't walked in years finally is told there is a cure and is able to walk again. Imagine the pain they would go through to get their muscles working again. Though I'm sure they would be excited and would do anything to walk, It just makes you really appreciate what you have.

The reason I say this is it has only been 5 weeks since my operation and I can bearly move my wrist 1-2 cms. I am either going to have an extremely strong right hand after all of this or I will end up with RSI. LOL
I JUST WANT THE USE OF MY HAND BACK.......

I have finished my mum's Mothers Day present but will post photos after I give it to her next week, I hope she likes it. I have a few more projects on the go. I am so addicted to my new hobby - quilting, stitchery, applique gee just anything to do with the sewing machine. What a great time to have my operation..........

Now I am off to Brisbane in a week and will be visiting a shop that sells ribbon really really cheap. I came across this place some time ago. Now I have put some photos of some ribbon I have bought there but I can't remember all the prices and I really can't remember all the ribbons I bought there. So if you would like me to pick you up some ribbon or you just want to give me some money and let me pick some lengths for you (that could be scarey) then shoot me an email. I will need to know before the 1 - 2 June. The large Ric Rac here is about 2cm wide and around $2/metre. Yes you read right. I think the stitched ric rac was around $1.75/m. Tey even have lace.

Kirsty took this photo of a quilt at The Quilters Shack last week, I think I am going in to get the pattern. I just love this quilt. I thought I'd make it for Makayla.

Resting and Relaxing

It's not my birthday anymore............ I think next year I might just celebrate for the entire month of May.......

Well Sew What's Crafty is over and I might say it was a great event. I wasn't able to do too much this year as one hand/arm is still bound up. But I was able to help out where needed. I really enjoyed doing the competitions up this year and I think I might put my name down for next year. I have at least now written a few notes so that next year who ever does the job will not be caught off guard with the little things that need to be done.

I think there is room for more change and one will be organising and promoting the competitions earlier. Though in saying this if it wasn't for the support of Colleen at Scrap Addicition and her customers I don't think there would have been much of a competition in the scrapbooking, so thanks Colleen.

Well it has been four weeks since my operation and all is going good. The therapist moved my wrist for the first time this week and though I was starting to loose sleep over the fear of pain, it wasn't too bad. Thank goodness. I am ready to have my arm out of the brace though I am not ready for the pain it would bring.

It is looking like I won't be able to drive for another 6 + weeks. All has been good so far but another 6 weeks could be a huge test. I have great friends that have been there for me especially Lorelle and Lyn who at a drop of a pin are there for you. Thanks Lorelle and Lyn. And thanks to everyone else that has been there to drive me here there and everywhere.

Now that I have some spare time now that all my committee jobs are finished I think I will start getting into those xmas presents. I need to start now just in case I don't get the use of my hand fully in time for xmas.

Have a great one guys.

It's my BIRTHDAY today.......

Sing -

It's my Birthday TODAY
I'm older than yesterday
All my friends are coming over to play
And they'll all sing Happy Birthday, TO ME.........

I have had a FANTASTIC DAY. Thanks everyone.

Thanks Nicole for Morning Tea and Lorelle for Lunch. And all my others friends and family for my birthday wishes.

Though I think Lorelle thought I was just a bit crazy today as I kept singing (out loud) the above happy birthday song. And Linda maybe right "I'm a 5 year old in a big body".

My two very special girls bought me clothes and jewelery. And Cameron got me chocolate (Cadburys Black Forest & Roast Almond - my favourites) and lots of sewing goodies. Which should arrive Friday. Just in time for Mothers Day.

We are off to Bundy Bowl tonight with the girls. Though I only realised this morning that I wasn't going to be able to play being one arm is tied up in a sling. Oh well the girls will have a great time.

Photos to share

I have my camera back so below are some photos of our camping trip and other events since.

Wall Hanging
I have finally finished my first ever stitching & patchwork wall hanging. I am thinking of entering it in the Sew Whats Crafty Stitchery competition. Got to be in it to win it. Or something like that.

Kirsty's Quilt
I managed to get Kirsty's quilt finished in Brisbane before my operation. I just have to hand stitch the binding on. I hope to have this done in the next few weeks. I still can't believe I made. I can't wait to start Makayla's quilt.

Kirsty
Is there a way we can slow down the growth of our children??? Kirsty is most certainly growing up ever so quickly and growing into a beautiful young girl. Kirsty now has glasses and she looks just as beautiful with them than without. Since my operation she has been the best daughter ever (not that she was bad before) but she is always helping and nothing is too much.

Easter Camp
Our Church Youth Camp at Somerset was such a great weekend. And as you can see from some of the photos it was wet, muddy and a bit more wet. All the bits you want when camping... NOT... I had such a great time cooking that I think I would do it again. Only if you joined me Nicole and Tammy.........

Kirsty's & her friends dressed in their formal Pathfinder uniforms.

A glimpse of Kirsty after her fun in the mud. Her nick name at camp was "The Mud Princess". I hope to get some more photos of her in the actual mud.

Our camp site once all the crew arrived.

These two photos are of the grounds the day we were packing up. Yeah for mud.......

This other photo I just HAD to take. It is the model number of our port-a-loo we had for the weekend. And we checked the other camp site model numbers and they were all different. How ironnic ours was called this.

My Operation
My operation went well except for the pain but thank goodness it has reduced. My plaster cast was removed last week (thankgoodness), as it was extremely itchy. But I had a new splint made in its place. As my wrist can not move for another 4 weeks. So I am not looking forward for 4 weeks when the Hand Therapist starts to manuvre my wrist. Yeah for pain....... Well it appears that my recovery will be between 6 & 12 months. Which means I won't regain the complete use of my hand for 6 - 12 months. And I will be in some pain for this duration. But I hope to start scrapbooking in the next week and I have started doing some sewing. It's amazing what you can do with one hand....

My fingers were quite swollen here. Around a week after the operation they started to go purple and bruised from the swelling.

Kirsty & Makayla making them selves at home in the hospital room at St Andrews Hospital.

Not too gorry. This is the cut the specialist made on my wrist. It is about 2 inches long. I also have a hole in the top of my hand where he cut to put the camera in to look aroung. Gee I wonder if I could have gotten some photos of the inside - to scrapbook of course. LOL

I have started spring cleaning the house... yeah I know how you ask.. well with a lot of help from Cameron & Kirsty. I only have a couple of rooms to do and one of them is my scrapbook room. I am moving all of my sewing into the girls old play room. Kirsty has been showing a huge interest in sewing over the past few years and my Mum & Dad gave Kirsty a sewing machine when I was last in Brisbane. I am picking up a table hopefully this week so Kirsty can start using it. I have just ordered some furniture and sewing goods so that Kirsty & I can start sewing up a storm. I will be posting photos of her work once we get the room organised.

It's my birthday in 2 more sleeps. Just in case you may have forgotten. LOL I'm still trying to work out where we might go. I am open for suggestions on some good family restaurants.

Sorry for such a long post.
To all the Mum's out there have a great Mothers Day on Sunday.
